A nuzlocke challenge, is a challenge in which the player takes extra steps to make the game more challenging, while also giving the player some sort of bond with the pokemon that are met on the way.
The rules of the standard nuzlocke are simple:
- Whenever a pokemon faints, it must be released.
- The only pokemon you can catch, is the first pokemon you meet on a route.
- All pokemon must be given nicknames
But, this wouldn't be a proper challenge if some extra rules weren't implemented. The rules I'll abide to are the following:
- Whenever a pokemon faints, it must be released.
- The only pokemon I can catch, is the first pokemon you meet on a route.
- However, I'm not allowed to catch more than 1 pokemon of the same type, and pokemon who are of a different type than the pokemon already caught do not count towards this limit.
- All legendary pokemon must be killed
- Given and npc traded pokemon do not count towards the limit, nor are they affected by it.
- I must give all pokemon nicknames
- I can not use money to buy anything else than antidotes and plain pokeballs untill I reach the shop before the elite 4. All money must be saved for the final part of this challenge. Other currency's are fine
- I can not run form wild pokemon, unless I have no PP left on any attacking moves.
- I can not powertrain (run into grass on purpose to train pokemon) pokemon which are more than 5 levels above the highest level pokemon I've defeated.
- I can't abuse saving to get back to a different point.
That should be plenty of rules to make this challenging, while eliminating some possible loopholes.
